Tredonald, a small mining town in Wales, shortly after World War II. Huw Thomas is only 16 years old, but has to wirk in the mines, because his father is a drinker and jobless. Huw is in love with Megan, the daughter of the owner of the local grocer's shop. They have to meet secretly, because her father doesn't approve of their relationship.
